[ART BOX] : HYBRIDIZATION

OF GENDER

Graduating Exhibition of the CEGEP de Lanaudière in Joliette Students

The Visual Arts Program of the Cégep régional de Lanaudière à Joliette invites you to celebrate the creative vitality of its graduates with the exhibition [Art Box]: A Hybridisation of Genres.

It is with great courage and tenacity that the graduates complete this "out of time" session at the Cégep régional de Lanaudière. In May, the Musée d'art de Joliette was to open its doors to them and allow them to exhibit their works for a unique week-long professional experience. Since January, preparations have been well underway. It's quite a turnaround for those who were impatiently awaiting the moment to present to the public for the first time the works on which they have put so much effort, imagination and heart.

Despite all sorts of challenges, today you are presented with works of their choice that testify to their creativity, humour, concerns and insatiable curiosity. You are virtually entitled to a glimpse of the work they have accomplished over the past two years.

The title of this virtual exhibition [Art Box]: a hybridization of genres refers to a box that could be the exhibition room, which can be modulated according to the artist's wishes. But it can also be associated with a black box, which keeps in memory and contains everything that happened in two years of creation at the Cégep. Art Box]: a hybridization of genres brings together a set of heterogeneous works that sometimes challenge and confront each other or complement and respond to each other. It is an exhibition that reflects our current world, full of contrasts and diversity.

During their two years of training, the graduates were driven by one and the same passion, that of creating, with ardour. Each of them has developed their own way of perceiving and understanding the world and it is with this virtual exhibition that they hope to touch you and transport you into a universe where the mix of themes, disciplines and techniques reveals their sensitivity and the concerns that drive them.

A touch of freshness in this spring of 2020, so that it finally explodes in all its exuberance.

Many thanks to the team at the Musée d'art de Joliette, who, against all odds, was able to provide students with a space on the Musée en quarantaine microsite to showcase their talent.
